Solar Landscape Lights vs. Low Voltage Landscape Lights

We install low-voltage landscape lights for dozens of customers all over the Triangle. Many of our customers do question us about the benefits of low-voltage lighting over solar lighting.

Sure, solar lighting is easier and cheaper to use. But this is definitely one of those cases where you get what you pay for.

One of the biggest benefits of installing landscape lighting at all is how much safer this makes your home. Thieves do not like coming into well-lit yards, and in some cases having a lot of lighting around your yard can be an even bigger deterrent than having a monitored security system in your home.

Lights make your yard look prettier too, but the safety issue is one of the biggest reasons why people add yard lighting at all.

Solar lights just aren’t reliable for this purpose. If you’re not getting tons of full sun in your yard most of the time then they may simply fail to switch on in the evenings. The benefits, both in terms of your yard’s appearance and in terms of your yard’s safety, are thus utterly lost.

Solar lights also don’t produce much light even when they do switch on. They simply glow a little bit.

We like energy efficiency as much as the next guys, but a thing is not energy efficient if it doesn’t do the job that you bought it to do!

Low voltage lighting offers a bright, safe landscape lighting experience. The low voltage lighting is also going to be a lot more durable and reliable over time, which means you save money in the long run.

While we have offered easy instructions for DIY low voltage lighting installations, this is also a task that we are happy to do for you, especially if you are not comfortable working around electricity. We’re known for being clean, courteous, and respectful of your home, so if you live in Carrboro, Wake Forest, or anywhere else in the Raleigh-Durham area, give us a call today.
